SONGS FOR MY DAUGHTERS: SHORT DOC
Songs for My Daughters lives in a liminal space between performance and documentation, personal and pedagogical, and between motherhood and artistry. The project is not just about generating performance material, but also about capturing the intimate, often invisible labour of making art as a mother, an educator, and a woman negotiating time, care, and voice. Created by Laura Quigley, photography by Nicole Harris, Videography by Gel Media. In progress: https://youtu.be/4WCaW4jTWyA
EMILIA: DIALECT COACH
Written by Morgan Llyod Malcolm, Directed by Jill Dion, Wayne State University, 2025. Dialect Coached by Laura Quigley.
ReCorDa: Director
In collaboration with Marta Rossell Prim, ReCorda is a solo performance produced by international performing arts company #horslit. Laura Quigley supported Rossell-Prim's creation process as Directorial Consultant from Canada - Marta and Laura worked together virtually, and in two languages (Catalan and English). ReCORda is a ritual to reunite with beauty, with the magic of breathing together, of listening, of playing, of creating, of painting, of singing our essence, of vibrating with our own light.

THE WAVES
Playwright + Performer
"With vivid and poetic language, striking imagery and an arresting soundscape, The Waves highlights the experience of motherhood and the mother/child relationship in ways that are unique, playful and relatable while also delving into the underrepresented territory of postpartum depression with rawness and beauty. Laura Quigley is a thoughtful writer and magnetic performer who is open to discovery in the creative process. Her vocal and physical range is unlike anyone I have witnessed in years. "
- Laura Nanni, Summerworks Artistic Director

THE WAVES
Published in Canadian Theatre Review Issue 196: Voice Work in Canada. Written and performed by Laura Quigley.
The Waves dives into underrepresented territory: loss-of identity in motherhood, post-partum depression, and the rebuilding of self after giving birth. The text is poetic, raw and urgent, and explores ways the human voice can initiate understanding and connection between performer and audience, between humans. In this way, the text contains detailed description of vocal sounds that depart from language, invoking the performer to explore relationship and communication beyond the conventions of speech and silence.
